Securing Your DataOne of the most neglected areas of computing within many organisations is data security. This is because it can be time-consuming and seems to bring no noticeable benefit in terms of profit. However, good data-security management and housekeeping may prevent a business from huge losses - both financially and in terms of time. There is nothing more frustrating than losing several months of work through a hard disk failure, for example, or more damaging to one's reputation than sending out viruses to one's customers! (This cannot always be helped because of email spoofing - whereby one's own email address is lifted from someone else's address book by a virus on their computer) One of the things which I find most astonishing is just how many people have anti-virus software installed on their computers but never update it! Another is how rarely people bother to back up their data. To this effect, I have compiled some tips to help you protect your data.(Please note that these are personal recommendations and I take no legal responsibility for the results of following the advice given. It is your responsibility to check things out if you are unsure).
