Installing Software Safely - Checking Suitability
< previous
Make sure that the software you are planning to install is suitable! Obviously, you cannot be 100% sure of how well any software is going to work on your pc until after you have installed it, but at least check it out until you are reasonably confident that problems will be unlikely.
-
Check that it does not carry spyware, especially if it is "freeware"
- look at user reviews if available
- Always read the documentation, especially the "readme" files, and also the licence agreement if you have the patience!
- check that it is compatible with your Operating System
- check that it is unlikely to conflict with what you already have on your pc.
- Make sure that you have SUBSTANTIALLY more space on your hard disk drive than the recommended minimum.
