Installing Software Safely

Normally, installation and uninstallation of new software takes place without mishaps. However, it it not uncommon for things to go wrong, sometimes seriously, after adding or removing programmes. To prevent these problems it is wise to take a few steps before installing new software.

Please note that some of the advice in this section presupposes that you are already familiar with a lot of things about computers. I have not had time to fully explain all the points, but I would still encourage you to read through the steps as there is plenty there which you may well be familiar with.
